You can find the humble incandescent light

When it comes to cheap bulbs that can effectively brighten up a room, many people vastly prefer incandescent bulbs. It is also the bulb that has been around for quite some time now so many people are reluctant to switch to modern and efficient low energy bulbs. But now is the best time to render a conscious effort in finding more efficient lighting solutions. Light is indispensable in our life. We should all contribute in the conservation of our energy resources. Incandescent bulbs primarily use the tungsten method of lighting. A small piece of tungsten filament is incorporated inside the bulb. When you switch your light on, energy surges directly into the filament and will then cause it to glow. Some of the low energy light bulbs you can find in the market are LED GU10 bulbs.

LED lights are considered more efficient than incandescent bulbs because they do not use a filament to work. Halogen bulbs are also comparable to LED GU10 bulbs although the former has more lighting power. Energy Efficiency There is no doubt that when it comes to efficiency, modern low energy bulbs take the cake. Halogen bulbs use a small amount of energy to work. You can even find Halogen bulbs that use only 25 watts of energy. LED lights, especially the LED GU10 bulbs, are three times more efficient than standard incandescent bulbs. To push the boundaries even further, sensor light bulbs have been invented. Sensor light bulbs got their name because of their ability to respond to environmental stimuli.

They turn off when nobody is in the room and are activated when they sense movements in the room again. Some sensor light bulbs can be activated by voice or clapping noise. Some can even be operated remotely which makes for very convenient use.  Homeowners no longer have to worry about forgetting to turn the lights off. Durability Incandescent bulbs are not exactly the most durable of lights. They perform well for a reasonable amount of time. But when you turn on the switch, energy immediately surges into the filament, causing an uneven deterioration. One part of the filament might thin out faster than the other. This actually shortens the life of the bulb. Frequently switching the light on and off also could have an effect on life span. LED lights and Halogen lights are considered more durable. LED lights do not use a filament to work so there is no material that will deteriorate because of frequent use. Halogen lights still use a tungsten filament but this is encased in a protective tube which is then surrounded by halogen gas. When it is turned on, a chemical reaction process prevents the tungsten filament from sticking to the bulb wall, which in turn prevents it from burning quickly. For this reason, Halogen lights are infinitely more durable than incandescent lights. Design There are now a lot of options when it comes to lighting design.

You can find the humble incandescent light enclosed in a variety of lamp shades and fittings. Incandescent and fluorescent lamps are also no longer the bland and dated lighting fixtures that they once were. The bulbs have been incorporated with coloured films to give a different lighting effect. If you are after mood lighting, you can opt for these lights. The same is true for low energy bulbs such as halogen and LED. You can also find various technologies incorporated in the lights to achieve a different effect. You can even find blue lights that can mimic daylight. Cost If we are going to talk about initial cost, incandescent bulbs win.

They are the cheapest bulbs you can find in the market. In the past, LED lights were quite pricey as they were not developed for domestic use. But thankfully, they have become cheaper. People can already utilise this in their homes.  Comparing the initial outlay of incandescent bulbs and LED lights, the former still wins in terms of initial cost. On the other hand, if we add durability and longevity to the equation, sensor lighting fixtures and low energy light bulbs are also cost effective in the long run. They do not consume as much energy. Furthermore, they can last longer so you dona€?t have to spend money buying light bulbs in bulk again to replace your old incandescent bulbs. They require little maintenance as well.Much has been said about the benefits of low energy bulbs. It might be better to look for efficient bulbs like the LED GU10 bulbs and sensor light bulbs. They are obviously initially more costly than the incandescent bulbs but if you consider long term benefits, they are definitely a bright idea.
